Equation 2, from the previous post, shows that the Moon's "Raleigh Convective Score", is roughly 0.0004, relative to that of the Earth.
QUESTION: Can planetary convection currents "dredge up" heavy elements, from deep down in the interior, and carry them up to the surface ? If so, could the lack of lunar convection currents explain the observed lack of heavy elements on the lunar surface ?
PREDICTION: Small, lighter, lower-gravity worlds will have fewer heavy elements on their surfaces. Conversely, larger, more massive, higher-gravity worlds will have more heavy elements on their surfaces. |
